In addition to the academic programme organized within the scope of the Turkish Cinema Summer School, the young filmmakers from abroad had the chance to discover İstanbul and Gaziantep for cultural context, as these are two of Turkey’s natural film sets.
The Turkish Cinema Summer School, which was organized for the first time this year within the scope of the Turkish Summer School programmes by the Yunus Emre Institute, hosted 23 young filmmakers from 20 different countries around the world, in Istanbul. The young filmmakers from different countries such as the USA, South Africa, Morocco, Russia, England and Iran, had the chance to get comprehensive information on the history of Turkish cinema.
After two weeks of intensive programs, the Turkish Cinema Summer School came to a close with a visit to a prestigious film set.
The young filmmakers were hosted by the Metropolitan Municipality of Gaziantep, as they visited the beautiful historic city of Gaziantep. The Southeastern city is the sixth biggest city in Turkey and the biggest city of its region with its population, economic potential, cultural richness and historic fabric.
As part of the first ever Turkish Cinema Summer School programme, the young filmmakers from different parts of the world competed with each other with short films and photographs they shot during their two-week journey into the depths of the passage and history of Turkish cinema.
The Turkish Summer School programme which has been organized for the ninth consequtive year and the Turkish Cinema Summer School, which has been organized for the first time this year, came to an end with a farewell dinner held.
